HK on the Bay has opened where the Cafe used to be. Its a great place with a great atmosphere. They are the winners for Best Atmosphere in the Chicks Beach Martini Classic 2007.

The official word about the Café
ChicksBeach.com called this a while ago.
With help from locals and the many people who responded to ChicksBeach.com about the poor service and facilities at the Café, it’s finally over.
This is the official word on the Café.
The Café has been locked down by the property owner. The property owner is currently in negotiations over the lease with a potential new business owner. There are more than 20 applicants trying to get in there. The building on the corner of Fentress and Lookout will no longer be called The Chicks Beach Café. The new name will be who ever takes the new lease. It will be a whole different establishment with ALL new owners. When this will happen no one knows as lease negotiations can vary in time for both parties to agree on the terms. According to the source on this matter “We are hoping to have a new business in the building before Thanksgiving”
So there you have it. This is the word from the source. If you are interested you may call Dubay Property’s at 460-6550 to inquire about your own business there, they still are accepting applications during the negotiation process.
In other news Dubay Property’s has a unit on Oceanview Ave. for rent. It is a top level 3 bedroom property that will lease for $1500.00 per month. If your interested call Dubay Property’s at 460-6550.
This weekend is “Shot weekend” in Chicks Beach. When you visit the Green Parrot ask for the “Joe Fred 29er” you will really enjoy this shot. When your at Alexander’s on the Bay you should ask for either the “Joe Fred 29er” or the bartender Sarah’s special “Next Level”. These are the most popular shots being served in Chicks Beach today.

It seems the Café is closed. Most people who saw it first saw the pad locks on the door and a sign that said no entrance or Trespassing, then later on the sign was replaced with one signed by Dan saying it was closed for vacation. Now seriously who closes a business on Labor Day Weekend because they went on Vacation, the staff there was well trained enough to run the Café while a vacation took place. We all think there’s more to it than just a vacation. There are lots of rumors but soon we will know.

At the last minute Alexander's on The BAy has decided to have a band after all. The Almost Famous Band will be performing on the deck at Alexander's Sunday night at 8:00pm. Be there for the Regatta Awards and an incredible show by the Almost Famous Band.

It seems as though there will not be a band at Alexander’s this Labor Day, BUT there is word of a Chicks Beach Regatta that will be taking place Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. More info on that will come soon as ChicksBeach.com gets more information.

More stories about the Café. We all know the lease is due to expire this month. Now with that knowledge there’s talk of someone going around asking the opinion of the neighborhood about what they would like to see on that corner of Fentress and Lookout Rd.

The rumor mill was in full swing this week in Chicks Beach. It seems the Café has been closed for a few days and the power company even came out and turned off the power. As it turns out, the owner had family issues to tend to out of town. A member of the Almost Famous Band returned a phone call to clarify that they would be playing tonight and that everything would be back to normal. When asked if that meant the Café would still be out of various items as usual, the response was that they would not comment on the Cafés on going inventory issues.

The 4th of July was an incredible weekend for Chicks Beach. There where thousands of people lined up around the bay from Northern Chicks Beach all the way south to Lynnhaven inlet and around the other side of the beach wrapping around to the Seashore State Park beaches celebrating Independence Day. Fireworks could be seen all around the bay from sunset until late into the night. The best seat to be had was Alexander’s On the Bay. This year was different for Alexander’s. Traditionally Alexander’s on The Bay has live entertainment on the deck, but not this year. ChicksBeach.com is looking toward Labor Day weekend to see if Alexander’s celebrates that weekend. That should be a great weekend.

Get ready for an unforgetttable 4th of July weekend. Even though the 4th is on a Tuesday, most people have monday off too makeing for a 4 day weekend. Keep an eye on this site for news of partys specials and more.
Chicks Beach Café has gone back to the old partner/owner. The new owner lasted 12 days. Open Mic still happens with Paul Skinner every Sunday night.
The Green Parrot Grille offers the longest happy hour in Chicks Beach. 12:00pm – 8:00pm daily. $1.50 wells and domestic beer, and $2.00 Heini’s and Coronas

The beach parking lot at Alexander’s will start charging to park on Saturday April 22 until Labor Day weekend. The cost is $5.00 per day and all cars MUST be out of the parking lot by 4:30pm. Parking is still free in the mornings for all dog walkers and beach walkers. The Green Parrot restaurant will be selling food this year in the parking lot and there will be no charge for people parking to eat lunch.

Chicks Beach St. Patricks Day Photos from the weekend are HERE
The forecast for Chicks Beach for the St. Patrick’s Day weekend was right on the money. Hangovers were prevalent throughout the Chicks Beach area all Saturday and Sunday long. Waffle Town helped nurse more than a few Chicks beach locals back into running shape again Saturday morning, just in time for the night time festivities in Chicks Beach to begin again, (Carry over from St. Patrick’s Day Friday.). The cool weather made for a wash most of Sunday, but that’s when most people recovered from the weekend… all day long and into the evening.

Chicks Beach saw its first ever Martini Classic Saturday February 25th Their where eight judges that went from Zia Marie to The Green Parrot and then to Alexander’s on the Bay.
Each judge ordered a Martini from every place we stopped. At the end of the night Alexander’s on the Bay was declared the champion of the Martini Classic. The Green Parrot was a close second.
It was agreed that the “Nuts n Berries” Martini from Alexander’s was the overall best Martini of the night. Other notable mentions are the Caramel Appletini from the Green Parrot and the Razmatini from Alexander’s.
